Guess what it is!

I was without Photoshop for a while there, but now it's running again and I'm ready to get back to some daily photos. I found this one when I went for a walk yesterday. Any guesses?

Meltdown.

I had a couple candles that melted down and overflowed onto my nightstand a couple days ago. The wax is a lot of fun to look at, though I don't think this shot is as well focused as it could be.

Sorry I missed a few days there. I'll be trying to get back to my daily photos, though they may be more like daily-ish. We'll see how it goes.

Princeton architecture.

As I left work yesterday, the light was beautiful--but I was fighting off the start of what I think is the flu and I just didn't have the energy to really take advantage of it. I shot this from where I was standing next to my car before heading home.

Refrigerator door.

A peek into my fridge. Missed a couple days recently, so I really needed to get a shot before going to bed - this was the first thing I happened upon.

Column bases.

I took this shot walking around Princeton's campus. Classical facades are the exception on this campus that is so characterized by its Gothic architecture, but there are a few to be found. I'm not sure what's up with the steps or ridges in the curves of the column bases. The edges almost look pixelated in the photo, but that's actually the way they're shaped.

Farmer's market produce.

Sorry it's been so long. I'm settled into a new apartment and finally picked up the camera again. Today was market day at the West Windsor Farmer's Market, so we picked up some local produce and some gorgeous flowers. I might post a shot of those if I have time tonight...

Sewing machine controls.

I spent a few minutes hanging around the wardrobe room at work today, chatting, taking pictures, and making a general nuisance of myself.

Wilting roses.

These roses had been sitting on our dining room table since my roommate's girlfriend visited last week. They were past their prime and starting to dry out, but they still had a lot of color in them and I thought the texture of the petals would make an interesting photo. I moved them into the soft light in front of a window and snapped a few shots. I didn't like most of them compositionally (I didn't want to try rearranging the brittle flowers for the sake of my photo), but I think this one turned out quite well.

One of the two Nile Hippos at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ.

I visited this aquarium today with a few friends. The animals were fascinating to watch, but it proved to be a disappointing day for me photographically. Most of the animals are on the other side of a thick window and they really don't like to hold still! On top of that it was a dreary day outside, and either the light was not cooperative or I was just having an off day. This is one of my better shots, but I wish it were a little sharper. I have a cheap Canon 75-300mm lens, and while the long zoom is great, at f/5.6 it's hard to catch a moving target in mediocre light.
